June 22 - Updates

I just a few updates for you guys tonight; I wanted to get them in before hitting the hay.

Update on “The Unexpected Expectant

The article that I posted yesterday has had an update added to it today from the Mayor of Gloucester, Carolyn Kirk. She has been researching the issue on her own since Time Magazine quoted the high schools principal as saying that he had heard the girls had formed a pact to get pregnant.

She has found that the principal cannot, as he stated to Time, remember whom he heard that from. She has also found that no other involved party can verify the motivation of a pact or agreement between any of the girls to get pregnant. She says that she cannot confirm the story and therefore will not accept it as true.

One thing that she did not find a way to unravel is the stories from the nurses at the clinic who gave the girl’s their pregnancy tests. It still stands that the girls were more pleased with positive results than negative results.

Oil Industry

Over the weekend, a conference was held between the largest oil consuming and producing countries to discuss the recent spike in prices. Saudi Arabia contends that the speculators are responsible for driving up the price of oil and gasoline, adding that the situation is being manipulated by speculators for personal gain, or selfishness as they called it.

Meanwhile, top Energy Officials for the U.S. and Great Britain were very vocal about their beliefs that Saudi oil companies have not kept up with recent increases in demand for oil. They are jointly requesting that Saudi Arabia increase it’s daily production in order to provide relief for consumers.

Top Saudi officials announced that in July, they will add another 200,000 barrels a day to their production. Add that to the increase they implemented in May, and they will be up to 9.7 million barrels a day.
