During the opening kickoff against the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium Friday night, Houston Texans WR Harry Williams, who was returning the kickoff, suffered an injury when he collided with teammate Nick Ferguson. He was carried off the field on a stretcher and taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas

He suffered a broken vertebrae in his neck. His family has joined him in Dallas.

His agent has said “I would honestly pay him not to play” again. Giving the sense that the injury will likely end the young receivers career in the National Football League.

After loosing their first two preseason games against the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos, the Dallas Cowboys had a strong outing that resulted in a win Friday night against the Houston Texans. The victory was certainly a narrow one, 23-22, but while the starters played the entire first half, minus T.O. who came out after the start of the second quarter, they demonstrated their powerful offense.

There were mistakes, sure, but overall it was a solid outing. One thing that many fans seem to be upset about is that Felix Jones didn’t get any playing time with the first team offense. Head Coach Wade Phillips said after the game that his share of the load was not necessary since Marion “The Barbarian” Barber only was set to play the first half. He added that during the regular season, the carries will be split to keep both backs fresh, and hopefully, healthy.

Injury Notes: WR Isaiah Stanback injured his shoulder on a kick return in which he coughed up the football as he was tackled. He says he would have continued playing in the game if it were the regular season, but the team trainers pulled him out. Guard Kyle Kosier also injured his ankle, though no specifics have been given as far as how much time he will miss because of it. Backup Joe Berger will likely fill his shoes in the meantime.

Senator Barack Obama announced today that his running mate for the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election will be Senator Joe Biden.

I have already seen headlines mentioning things such as “Loose lips” with regards to senator Biden since the announcement this afternoon, which looks to serve Obama well in his campaign to become the first black President of this country. Biden brings with him a very loose set of lips that will likely flap largely about his experience and knowledge of foreign policy and national defense, something that Obama has been flakey on so far in his campaign.
