Google Chrome and Gustav
Have you ever just felt like saying something, even though you had no clue what to say or why anything needed to be said? If you ever feel that way, you should start a blog; that way you can write about it, and inevitably someone will read it before deciding that you might be an ass. It’s why I blog …
So it’s 01:57, and I’ve been sitting on my ass today; I haven’t really gotten anything productive done. Okay, so I did reattach the door panel in my truck, but I didn’t determine why it came loose to begin with. I also took out the trash, but I didn’t put another bag in the can. Like I said, nothing productive.
I have read a lot of different things today, between each old episode of House M.D. that I watched. Great show!
I read about hurricane Gustav and the not-so-terrible effects of its landfall. It was actually something that I looked for when I woke up at 3:30 this afternoon. Last night when I left work I discovered that the company I work for was going to devote several of its buses to help unload the seven planeloads of Gustav evacuees. I left long before that was scheduled to happen, but I wanted to stay and help out. Just feel bad that they have to deal with anything like this again, after what happened before.
There were major differences this time around that set it apart from Katrina. The drinking water supply was unaffected, as were most of the levees, both of which caused some serious trouble three years ago. It also made a big difference that this hurricane actually weakened just before it made landfall.
Just before I started writing this, I read a little bit about something that I will be getting in touch with tomorrow, if not in the next few hours. That all depends on when they open up the downloads page though. It’s called Google Chrome, and it’s the new web browser that carries more than enough promises to make it complete bullshit. However, it also carries the benefit of hindsight from all the other browsers, which should allow Google to neatly contain all that bullshit, which just might smell like roses after all.
The first beta release opens Tuesday, and as I said, I can’t wait to get a hold of it after reading the information that Google has released about it so far.
And now I’m out of shit to say, err … write. Kind of nice actually, not having anything to do. Seems like I have been busy digging myself deeper into some hole or another the past couple of weeks. I do owe an apology to someone that had contacted me about the whole CBC thing though. The last chance I had to call this person about it, my net connection was screwed up thanks to the incompetent skills of Charter Communications, so I couldn’t get the number from my email. See the info available on Google Chrome for my thoughts on this.
So, sorry about that, I haven’t forgotten about you … Star … and I am seriously interested in getting this done. Can you let me know what’s up in an email though?
Nothing works so well to make me completely rearrange my whole schedule as a good conflict …
