Gnawing On a Ball of Crazy
Well I’ve had a rough couple of days since my last entry. Been feeling a little sick, sick in my head, sick in my body, even sick in my soul. The good thing though, when you can’t imagine a single reason to do anything productive, you get sucked into a stupid ass game like the Mobsters application on MySpace … there’s a few dozen hours I won’t get back.
I’ve also had the pleasure of two new breakthroughs from my 2 ½ year old daughter. First, for the first time tonight she got out of bed and not only played in her room, but came out of her room. An event I wished to never happen, oh well.
The second one is much more severe though, she has figured out how to talk back to mommy and daddy, and given that she undoubtedly inherited the best of what some would say is my worst side, she is quite good at it. Something about being stubborn that just helps a child be defiant.
Actually, my bro Phrack blogged about it on MySpace after my wife mentioned it to him. He has two kids and has been dealing with the same issue for a few years now, so his advice is actually helpful. You can check out his blog about this here. I should note that we have figured out why my daughter is being so ornery.
She watches Noggin and a show on that channel called Little Bill, the one that comes from the great comedic mind of Bill Cosby, is responsible for this latest expression of her self to us. She has repeated some of that stuff verbatim during her little fits of crazy, which isn’t to say that she is throwing fits. Little Bill acts out like that too, but on the show he is merely talked to about it, and never actually punished for any of it, and she must be seeing that glass as half full in thinking that she will only get talked to when she does it like Little Bill does.
On a more positive note though, the Dallas Cowboys play game 1 of the season this afternoon, and I can’t wait to see how well they come together to stomp the Browns. They signed rookie wide out Mike Jefferson off the practice squad for more depth at the position, though Isaiah Stanback will be on the active roster as the third receiver; he will be wearing a protective harness on his shoulder for the year to stave off a season ending surgery. Doctors say that he is not risking further injury by playing with it.
And as luck would have it, I also get to watch the race since Hannah caused the race track to be closed down Friday and Saturday; I usually have to work through it. I haven’t seen any updates on how Hannah has developed though, so I hope it wasn’t bad.
Off to bed now, good morning to you.
