Giving Credit Where It Is Due

without comments

WordPress Blogging PlatformOver the last few months, I have been finding different articles on the web pertaining to plugins for the software that I use to run this site, WordPress, and how different plugin authors are given credit for their work.

Many have included options to easily place a link to their site in the footer, or copyright section, of the site, while others simply ask for the link to placed, and still others ask that if you like the plugin, then blog about it, or leave comments on the authors site. Really, there are quite a few different methods for which to give credit where it due.

For those who don’t know, briefly, plugin is a piece of code that can be easily added to a site to add functionality of some kind.

Though I fully respect the importance of linking back to the authors page as credit for their work, I have always found that it is nearly impossible to do it for each author in the footer of a site. So I have decided to dedicate an entire page for that purpose.

Please Visit the Credits Page For Plugins Used On BrokeSanity.com to find detailed information about each and every plugin that is used on this website.

I have chosen to link to the author’s homepage rather than the specific plugin page of each author to further broaden the exposure and credit given.

UPDATE:

Since originally posting this, I have found a plugin that exists to display the plugins used on a site, and effectively, with better layout, does the exact same thing I was aiming to do. So I have updated the credits page to use this plugin, mostly because it automatically does what I spent a couple of hours slowly doing manually. Once again, to all the plugin authors, thanks.
